Don’t mind me. Just arriving fashionably late to my day job — coffee in hand, a bag full of journals, and my mind full of stories and made up characters. 😉

I feel like it is my mission this year to prove to myself all the “but I can’t right now”s WRONG. 👋🏻

Full time job? Psh, I can still write, edit, query, and publish a book in a year. 👑

And a full time family? Yep. I can still do it! And Bodie and the hubs are going to help. 😈

Love my bed and my Hallmark movies and snowboarding on the weekends? It’s called balance sweetie. Plenty of time and inspiration to get that book - and my future - locked in! 💅🏼

4 months ... that’s all it took! I finished writing the complete first draft of #PumpkinSpiceWishes! It is SO satisfying writing “The End” when you actually know it’s the end of the story. 🙃

*takes mic* I’d like to thank my husband Scott for all his witty ideas when I got stuck, and Bodie pup, of course, for believing in me. And I’d like to, *sniff* thank *wipes a tear gracefully off my cheek* this delicious #hygge style breakfast spread that really got me through the last pages. I realized today that I have written 3 novels, 5 c

I realized today that I have written 3 novels, 5 children’s books, and 4 poetry books in the past 4 years. (Yes, 1 of those novels is my #wip, I’m still finishing up the last two chapters of the first draft — and yes, another of those novels was written in a 3 day writing course and is reallyyy messy, but hey, a first draft is a first draft. I’m counting it!)

Now. Want to know how many books I have published?

One.

YOU GUYS.
I have written 12 books... and 11 of them are literally just chillin in my house.

Drinking a beer. Laying back. Totally social distancing.

It’s funny, how fear stops us at the last minute from fully committing.

I know most of y’all don’t snowboard, but I loveee snowboarding! When I’m approaching a rail or a jump or a weird looking bump in the snow, not fully committing is what leads to falling.

I have the skills. I used to be a snowboard instructor. I can do anything!. But I’m afraid... so I don’t.

Recently, I started saying to myself, “Yes. I can.” before I hit a harder feature, and it’s shocking how simply I just ... do it.

Writing a book is fun. Making up stories and characters is fun. Snowboarding is fun! Especially because once you learn the basics, actually doing the cool things (like being published or hitting the jump) comes down to one simple thing — confidence in yourself.

Literally saying to yourself, “Yes. I can.” ... and then actually believing it to the point that can say, “Yes. I did!”

Have you ever wanted to write a book? What stopped you from doing it? Or are you more like me, where the writing part is easy, it’s the emotional part that goes along with writing a book that is scary?

I strongly believe that no matter HOW bad somethin

I strongly believe that no matter HOW bad something is, there is always a blessing inside of it. This year, the blessing was internal. I feel like for the first time in my 32 years I know what I want to do with my life. It sounds silly, but I’ve never known. Even when I pretended I did, I didn’t. 😉

But now I close this chapter of my life and I feel clear headed, confident, and grateful for a compass in my heart.

So #goodbye2020 — I have never been more ready to start writing the next page!

I’m nearing the end of chapter 7, in my #wip and there’s a romantic mystery developing where one of my characters is receiving romantic notes with cute little poems and gifts and she doesn’t know who it’s from (!!)

So, in chapter 7, this mystery man had her surprise delivered to her room at the BnB: coffee and a mini pumpkin and a poem that read: “pumpkins are orange/coffee is black/enjoy your rainy day/and this yummy snack”

And the snack is her favorite snack to have with coffee (duh) because he listens to her when she talks.

And so, I asked THE MOST ROMANTIC MAN I know what he would send up!!

AND THIS IS WHAT HE SAID. 😂😂😂😂

Romance isn’t dead, y’all. It’s just leveled up. 😂😂

And yes, I married him.

One of my fav #peloton instructors — when she’s got us to the point we can barely breath heading up that “hill” or chasing that sprint — she tells us to smile.

And at first I was like, “uhhhh girl I can barely BREATHE I AM SWEATING AND GASPING FOR AIR I AM A HOT MESS. THERE IS NO EXTRA ENERGY AVAILABLE TO SMILE”

But, I try. I grit my teeth and stretch my lips into a sort of ... “smile”.

And suddenly, I’m not joking here, my energy is renewed.

My grimace becomes an actual smile.

My smile is one of those determined smiles. Like, I know I got this, watch this ma no hands sort of smile. Like, this STRUGGLE is FUN because I can feel my muscles and my lungs and my HEART and my body is MOVING sort of smile.

Like, watch me SLAY sort of smile.

So, yea. There is always just enough energy to force yourself to smile.

And you will be happy you did. 😬
