This summer has been so busy with my day job in HR and balancing writing my novel, I just keep putting off chores like laundry. 😂 Idk how people do it, but me, I haven’t figured it out. 🙃 #idkwhoneedstohearthis

I’m never sure what to say anymore. So much has

I’m never sure what to say anymore. So much has changed inside me since I started writing with the purpose to BE an author. I guess it’s the little moments that make you forget how old you are, how much pain and frustration and feeling stuck you’ve been through, how far you have left to go.

I love this pic because this is my family. The hubs looking hot-without-trying as always. The pup showing off his tiny butt. And me wanting to catch it all in a photo to remember it forever.

I don’t just write about moments like these. I live them, too. 💕

I’mma just say it. We really take our freedoms for granted. But more and more I realize how important they are. When I was in high school, my English teacher told us that simply by being in America, we are in the top 5% in the entire world. And being alive in the 20th century? Top 3%. And the fact we were blessed to have a great education? Top 1%.

How truly lucky we are.

In America, it isn’t about where you are now. It’s about the POTENTIAL inside of you, and having the OPPORTUNITY to do something amazing with it. American Freedom, while legally protected, it’s a MINDSET that is unique to our country.

Babe, we are FREE!

I’ve been thinking about deleting my IG feed and

I’ve been thinking about deleting my IG feed and starting over. Going through my followers and cleaning house. Deleting bots. As a writer, I have this *neeeed* to edit the f out of my life. Delete what doesn’t fit anymore. It’s like a legitimate craving that won’t go away.🤤 In a story, it’s easy to delete. You just highlight the sentence and press the button. Rewrite the transition. Hold onto the tried and true fact that the reader doesn’t need to know the entire backstory. But in life, social media, it feels scary to do that. “What will they think?” “What if I ruin my chances of going viral?” (😂😂um I’ve been viral. It’s fleeting) But for real — I feel like deleting posts is like, super frowned upon, and you aren’t allowed to do it. But I’m tired of holding onto my backstory. I’m ready for my hero’s journey to begin. Idk. What would you do?

This is the hardest part. It’s past believing in

This is the hardest part. It’s past believing in yourself. It’s knowing you can.

Belief — is found in faith. Proof isn’t necessary for belief. In a way, it’s a thought that you believe is true. A thought — is inside your mind. Sometimes you speak it out loud, but mostly it’s not even tangible. It’s a thought.

Knowing — is found in proof. You know you can because you can see your talent and feel your drive to succeed. You’ve witnessed yourself reach a finish line before (even if it’s just in your #peloforwine class). In a way, knowing is a belief that is SO STRONG and based in proof and action, it becomes external.

Do you get the difference?

It’s easy. “I believe I can.” Vs “I know I can.”

That is all! Off to work in the office today. It rained yesterday and I finished editing through chapter 4 yesterday, which means I can rewrite chapter 5!

Super excited about this, because my free spirited barista just had an extremely embarrassing “almost kiss” with... #spoilers! 😉

I wish I had a green thumb. But tbh, I’ve murder

I wish I had a green thumb. But tbh, I’ve murdered every single plant I’ve tried to grow. 🪴

But I’m pretty good at healing my own roots. Fear is the great antagonist, because we are naturally afraid of So. Many. Things.

And NOT just external things.

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve realized how afraid I am of my own power. My own emotion. My own desires. My own ... ability.

And we turn that fear into hate, because it’s much easier to hate what you are afraid of than it is to love it. (Ahem, talking about you bugs 🐞)

I think most people assume the opposite of “hate” is “love”, but I disagree.

I believe we conquer our fears with COURAGE. And in its place, we find love.

And that is why the opposite of “hate” is “life”.

Because a life lived in fear is nothing. But a life lived with courage and love... that’s everything.

Let me eat my cake and have it, too. ✌️ Have you ever wondered why you are on this planet? Is our purpose really just to live?

If that were true, then I think our brains would all be the same. But in reality, we all see and perceive and experience the world differently.

Some people see the world through vivid color, while others see it through numbers and equations.

Some people see the world through story and emotion, while others see it through experience and physical movement.

I can imagine the oxygen in my breath glowing through my veins, and see a poem there — so obvious to me — but I still count on my fingers to do basic math.

I can feel the warm spring breeze coming down from the mountains, and I know this planet is alive. Others feel the same breeze, and think, it is spring now.

Both are beautiful thoughts, aren’t they? I’m not sure where I’m going with this, but basically, I bought a #carrotcake for Easter and I put on fake eye lashes but no foundation, and I really enjoyed the usual family debates and topics over coffee.

Can you have your cake and eat it, too? Can you have everything you want in life?

If you align your life with HOW you are built (instead of trying to be something you aren’t), and WHO you are meant to be (instead of living behind a facade so others will like you), I honestly think the answer is yes.

Here’s to cake! 🍴

Posting this poem is vulnerable. This is a side of me I keep hidden inside my journals, but I write about it a lot. Where I am going, who I want to be, what I need to do to get there. It intrigues me because if life is like a book, then what’s my hero’s journey? You know?

I am of the *strongest* belief ... that your best work will always be vulnerable. The secret parts of you are the parts that speak out the loudest. Because they are real. And when your art is real, it connects with real people. Which is, in a way, the goal.

But the reason I love this poem so much is because it shows that there is connection in life. Our world is made up of so many layers, and everything feels separate and different from us, but once you add in God (or a higher power, the universe, the divine), everything connects.

It’s a really beautiful moment. 🥰
